7 Foods You Need to Include in Your Candida Diet Plan

If you know anything about treating Candida overgrowth, then you are probably well aware of the foods you need to avoid if you want to keep Candida at bay. Candida albicans, the fungus that causes systemic Candida infection, feeds on things like sugars, carbohydrates, and alcoholic beverages. You may wonder what is left after you cut out all these joys. While there is no denying that the Candida diet can seem very restrictive for anyone who loves food, it is also true that you still have some great options. Be sure to include these foods in your Candida diet plan:

Yogurt with Active Cultures

Active cultures are actually the good bacteria that keep Candida albicans in check. Eat at least one serving a day of yogurt that contains live and active cultures like acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, and Streptococcus thermophilus.

Fresh Vegetables

While fruits are on the naughty list, you are encouraged to eat all the vegetables you want while on the Candida diet plan. Most vegetables are good (except for the starchy ones like potatoes, winter squash, yams, corn, and most beans), but some of the most helpful vegetables are sauerkraut (eaten raw), Kim Chi, and garlic.

Meats

Stick to fresh, organic cuts of meat (as opposed to cured and processed meats), as they are sugar-free and can go a long way in filling you up so that you don’t feel as though you are denying yourself while on your diet. You must absolutely avoid all processed meats.

Fish

While there are some types of fish that should be avoided, these fish are actually great for a Candida diet and can be eaten a few times a week: Sockeye, Wild Salmon, Sardines, Herring, and Anchovies.

Gluten-free Grains

Grains are perfect Candida diet constituents because they help clear out the colon, which is where Candida infections fester. Try oat bran, buckwheat, millet, amaranth, quinoa, brown rice, and wild rice.

Spices and Herbs

In addition to giving your food great flavor, herbs and spices are antioxidants that also have anti-fungal qualities–perfect for fighting Candida overgrowth. Most every herb and spice you can think of are beneficial in this way, so experimenting with seasonings is a great way to liven up the food in your Candida diet plan.

Herbal Tea Blends

There are a great number of herbal teas on the market that contain antioxidants. Some are even probiotics! Look for teas flavored chicory root, cinnamon, licorice, chamomile, pau d’arco, clove, peppermint, ginger, and lemongrass.

Your Candida diet plan doesn’t have to be bland and boring. As a matter of fact, if you incorporate all of these elements into your diet, it can be just a delectable as it is healthful. Still not sure what to do next? You can find Candida Crusher questions and answers here.
