After your graduation, it is normal to leave the roommates and find a very own place. Nowadays, almost everyone prefer to find an empty shell of a house and then turn it into inviting and warm space. 1. Throw away the old useless stuff before you move-in
It will be very hard for you to pack up all your stuff in two or three boxes and suitcases and move them to a place that is miles far from your current location. Yes, it may be very difficult for you to throw the jumper that your granny gave to you when you started school, but if you don’t wear it anymore, can you give me one reason to keep it? Throw away all stuff from the attic and garage, the old furniture and clothes, because they will only take up a lot of space in your car. If you think that you can get any money for them, think about having a garage sale or something like that or you can at least donate them to charity.
2. Once you move-in, start with the bedroom
When you are at home, you will spend most of your time in the bedroom. If you are on a tight budget, you can only go for new bedding first, and then buy other accessories that will enhance your space and make it comfortable and relaxing. You can also think about painting the walls and buying new curtains. If you are a night owl, who like to sleep a lot, you will probably like to decorate your space with deep tones, while the others will probably opt for a lighter palette of colors. The truth is that people don’t change the beds in their bedroom every day, so if you can afford it, you should buy the bed that you have always dreamed about and that will fit your space comfortably and stay with you for many years.
3. Don’t buy everything at once
I recommend you to wait for a month or two and think about how you are going to use the space and what do you want to put in every corner. You may need much more time if you haven’t thought on thinks like, in what colors would you like your kitchen or living room to be, what kind of furniture designs you will need and how to use the space.
