For those that can’t work, or don’t want to work a “normal” job there are many different options for making money outside of traditional employment.
Become A Crafter
For some people their dream of becoming a full-time crafter never comes to fruition. However, for others it becomes their career and they make a great living at it. You too can make a living as a crafter, it’s just a matter of finding something you’re passionate about that people want to buy.
Many crafters make good money selling their creations at local farmer’s markets and holiday craft fairs. Others sell their creations online where they can share their stuff with people all over the world.
Try Freelance Writing
Becoming a freelance writer isn’t always easy but it is one of the cheapest ways to start working for yourself since you don’t need any startup cash as long as you have a computer already.
There are companies that will hire novice writers, as long as you seem to have a skill for words and grammar. make sure that you save some samples of the work that you do, whether it’s for a college newspaper or the local newspaper. Examples of your work will help you get more writing gigs in time.
Start A Photography Business
If you enjoy taking photos and have a camera that can pass for professional you can start doing photos as a career choice. Maybe you love to take nature photographs and want to turn them into prints or greeting cards.
You may also have an interest in being a wedding photographer or maybe take photos of teenagers for their senior pictures. The ideas are endless, as long as you have the equipment or the money to get it.
Mow Lawns
Many people think jobs as lawn mowers are for kids and teens, but there are adults out there who have created lucrative businesses as lawn mowers and yard handymen. If you enjoy the outdoors this could be the perfect job for you.
Mainly you’ll need to have a riding lawn mower, a truck, and a trailer to haul your mower on. There is some expense to getting started, but after you get a couple regular clients you’ll make your money back and then some.
Some of these “jobs” are things that even people on disability can do, although you should check with your disability lawyer ahead of time to make sure that you can legally do them. Something like crafting for fun and money should be OK, and working as a freelance writer is great for people who are homebound but have a lot of knowledge to share.
